Explore Rwanda’s Nyungwe Forest National Park, a pristine rainforest teeming with chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, rare birds, and canopy walks. Ideal for primate trekking, hiking, birdwatching, and nature immersion.
Nestled in Rwanda’s southwestern highlands, Nyungwe Forest National Park is one of Africa’s oldest and most biologically rich montane rainforests. Covering over 1,019 km², it protects diverse ecosystems ranging from dense jungle to bamboo thickets and swamps.
The park is home to 13 species of primates, including chimpanzees and the large troops of Ruwenzori colobus monkeys, along with more than 1,100 plant species, 322 bird species, and countless orchids, butterflies, and reptiles.
Nyungwe’s blend of dense forest, misty ridges, and high-altitude trails offers some of the best canopy and nature hiking experiences in East Africa.
